Wellington

Für einen guten Ausblick auf die Stadt gingen wir mit der Standseilbahn zur Sternwarte. Dort gibt es auch ein kleine Seilbahnmuseum. Zu Fuss gings später auf den Mt. Victoria auf der anderen Seite der Stadt. Da wurde ein kleiner Teil des Films Lord of the Rings gedreht. Und man hat wieder einen tollen Ausblick auf die Stadt. In der Stadt ist das Te Papa Museum mit gratis Eintritt. Es zeigt Mauri-Kunst, zeitgenössische Kunst und hatte eine Terra Cotta Ausstellung. Ein Bummel durch die Stadt hat uns die aufwendige Architektur von 1850 bis heute wiederspiegelt.

Im Weta Studio wurden u.a. die Masken und Effekte für Lord of the Rings und Der Hobbit gemacht. Leider kann man im Studio keine Fotos machen (Urheberrechte) aber einen Eindruck haben wir trotzdem mitgenommen.
Nach so viel Stadt waren wir froh im Red Rock Nationalpark wieder in der freien Natur zu sein. Das Spezielle sind die roten Felsen und die Seelöwen. Für uns immer wieder toll das Rauschen der Wellen!

A nice view to th town is from the station of the cablecar beside the Wellington observatory. There is a small cablecar Museum too. Later we climbed Mt. Victroia. A Little part of Lord of the Rings was turned there. And again a great view to the town. Doen town we went to the Te Papa Museum (free entry) it shows Mauri art, modern art and there was a Terra Cotta exhibition too. Having a walk in the town showed us the architecture fro 1850 to modern times.

The Weta Studio was responsible for the masks and the effect of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit(and many other films). Unfortunately it's forbidden to take pictures in the studio (copy rights) however we took a good impression with us.

After all that urban Sightseeing we were happy to be back in nature at the Red Rock N.P. The Special red rocks are unique and there is a seal colony too. For us very time wonderfull the Sound of the waves of the sea!!
