Perth ist die Hauptstadt von West Australien und hat
rund 1.5Mio Einwohner. Sie liegt am Indischen Ozean und der Schwan-Fluss (Swan River) fliesst mitten durch. Zu Fuss sind wir im Zentrum auf der Barrack Street zum Schwan-Fluss gegangen. Hier hat
man einen tollen Blick auf die Schwan Glocken. Der spitz in die Luft ragende 88m hohe nadelförmige Turm ist ein Wahrzeichen von Perth. Weiter gings zum Elisatheth Quay mit seiner geschwungenen
Fussgängerbrücke, von hier sieht man die Skyline der Stadt und den beschaulichen Hafen mit seiner Fussgängerzone.

Perth ist he capitol of WA and counts approx. 1.5m habitants. It’s on the coast tot he Indian
Ocean and the river Swan ist the heart oft the city. We have been walking down Barrack Street with a great view of the Swan Bells, it’s
approx. 88m high, a landmark of Perth. We continued to Elisabeth Quai with it’s winding pedestrial bridge. On which the view to the skyline
and the park is perfect.
Eine bescheidene Fussgängerzone (für die grösste der
Stadt) bildet das eigentliche Zentrum ‘The Mall’.
Die hübsche Sherwood Gasse mit den kleinen Läden und Cafes lädt zum Verweilen ein.

The center is a pedestial area ’The Mall‘, which is rather small compared to the size oft he city. A charming ‚Sherwood Street with small shops and cafes invites for a rest.
Die St.Geogres Cathedral ist eine der ältesten Kirchen Australiens(eröffnet
1888) und sie hat eine einmalige Pfeifen/Tropeten-Orgel.

Münzprägestätte in Perth ist heute immer noch
aktiv. Es werden Gedenkmünzen in Gold geprägt.
Ein Museum zeigt die Geschicht des Golds in Australien. In Australien wurde das grösste Nugget aller Zeiten gefunden: ‚Welcome Foreigner‘ willkommen Fremder ist der Name, es wog 72kg und hätte
heute einen Wert von 4M Franken. Des Nugget wurde damals eingeschmolzen, im Museum ist eine Replica ausgestellt. Das viert grösste nicht eingeschmolzene Nugget ist als Original zu sehen: das
Normandy Nugget. Es hat ein Gewicht von 25.5kg und wurde in Kalgoorie (300km westlich von Perth) gefunden. Die grösste original Goldmünze ist Ausgestellt: 1tonne reinstes Gold! Man kann einen
echten Goldbaren in die Hand nehmen und es wird vorgeführt wie Gold gescholzen bei 1064°C und zu einem Barren gegossen wird.

The Mint is still active producing gold coins. A museum shows the history of gold in Australia. In Australia the biggest nugget ‘Welcome Stranger’ was fund mid 19th century, it was 72kg it was molten straight away. However there is a replica shown in the museum.
The original fourth biggest nugget is in the museum: the Normandy Nugget, it’s 25.5kg, it was found in Kalgoorie in the Super Pit 300km west of Perth. The biggest gold coin is displayed – 1ton of
purest gold!. In the museum you can touch a real gold bullion and it’s shown a traditional gold pure. It’s melting point is 1064°C.
Vom der Terrasse
des Königsgartens sieht man die Stadt von oben. Der angeschlossene botanische Garten hat eine Fülle einzigartiger lokaler Pflanzen. Der Boab wurde eigens vom 4000km nördlich gelegenen Darwin in
den botanischen Garten gebracht, er sollte einer Strasse weichen.

A magnificent view to down town offers the terrasse of Kings Garden. The nearby botanic garden is rich of local plants and trees. E.g. the Boab has been transferred from Darwin to the botanic garden, it has been saved from a
street construction place.
