Am 15. Juni sind
wir in Weihai angekommen, ziemlich weit weg von Shanghai, doch hoffen wir, dass die Geburtstagswünsche trotzdem bis in die Schweiz gekommen sind?! Wir haben auf Dich angestossen, auf gute
Gesundheit und viele schöne Stunden beim Jassen!
Wiedermal konnten wir zu Fuss einen Grossteil der Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt erkunden. Und angefangen haben wir mit dem Spaziergang zum Tangbo Spa, der eigenwilligen Aussichtsplattform am Meer,
die wohl dem ‚Grand Arche‘ in Paris nachempfunden ist.

On June the 15th we arrived in Weihai, rather far away from Shanghai, however we hope our birthday wishes have found their ways to Switzerland?! We had a toast on you wish good health and lots of fun when
playing Jass!
In Weihai again we were close to the attractions and could go there by walking. At the beginning we went along the sea to the Tangbo Spa, which is a ‘unique’ viewing platform, might be it looks a
little bit like the ‘Grand Arche’ in Paris.
The First Archway of China ein Park in Weihai, etwas
zwischen Kitsch, künstlichen Kulissen und bitter bösem Ernst. Ich habe die Installationen wie Gleiten am Seil oder Schiff als Theater als unpassend un kitschig empfunden, zudem nicht mehr zu
gebrauchen weil defekt. Die Felsen bei den `bronce` Skulpturen tönen hohl. Hier hat einer zu viel Phanasie gehabt. Der Budda in der Lotusblühte ist wunderschön, doch die nutzlosen Installationen
im Wasser trüben das Bild. Wirklich anders ist das Kriegsmuseum, hier wird die ganze Brutalität des Kriegs gezeigt – mal nicht auf Heldentum sondern eher nüchtern. Die Auszeichnung Nationaler
Touristenpark AAAAA ist wohl dem Besuch von Herrn Xi dem Präsidenten Chinas zuzuschreiben.

The first Archway of China is a park in Weihai, it’s between kitsch, artificial deco and bitter truth of war. For me the installation for rope gliding and the ship teater were corny and nomore
functional. The rock in the sculpture path artificial – somebody had too much of phantasy. The Buddha with the lotusflower is very beautiful, but the useless installations in the water don’t look
good. Totally different is the war museum – here the war is shown as brutal and primitive as it is. The National Tourist Attraction AAAAA is might be only given because Mr. Xi visted this
place.
Der HuanCuiLou, ein
ehemaliges Eingangstor to Stadt und Teil der Stadtmauer wurde erstmals vor 500 Jahren erbaut. Der Pavillon wurde mehrmals neu aufgebaut, doch der typische Styl der MJngdynastie wurde beibehalten.
Der Eintritt ist gratis. Miteinem Aufzug gelangt man is oberste Stockwerk und hat einen tollen Ausblick über die Stadt hin zum Ost Chinesischen Meer.

The former entrance gate, HuanCuiLou, was part oft he citywall. It was built 500 years ago in the Ming dynasty the first time. The pavillon has been rebuilt since several times, but it has kept its styl of the Ming
architecture. The entrance is free. An elevator took us up to the top level with an exciting view to the city and the East Chinese Sea.
LiuGongDao ist die
Insel vor Weihai, mit dem Schiff einfach zu erreichen. Auf der Insel gibt es Spazierwege und ein Kriegsmuseum. Klar ist es toll mit dem Schiff ein Stück übers Meer zu fahren, aber der Besuch
lohnt sich eher nicht. Die Insel ist verbaut und auf den chinesischen Massentourismus eingestellt. Das Museum glorifiziert den Krieg. Zeitverschwendung?!

LiuGongDao ist he island outside of Weihai. Easy to get there by boat. On the island are some walking ways and a war museum. Here the war is glorified. If you like to travel a bit by boat it’s a might be worth whilst to go there
but not for the rest. Waste of time?!
Wirklich toll war
der Ausflug an die Ostspitze der Shandong Halbinsel. Dort gibt es zwei Küstenabschnitte die für den Tourismus hergerichtet sind. Beim Eingang befindet sich eine kleine vorgelagerte Insel
mit einer grossen Budda-Figur. Der eigentliche
Ostteil ist die Felsenspitze im Meer touristisch aber eben sehr schön.

A great trip to the east side of the Shandong penisula. There are two coast sections prepared fort he tourists. At the entrance is a little island, there is a big budda statue. The real east is a rock formation in the
sea, very touristic, but very nice indeed.
Und so sieht's an der Ostspitze aus! --- And that's how it looks at the east point!
